“Case Study” Carpet
Suzanne Tick and Terry Mowers, 2000
Type 6 Nylon Fibers, Jute Backing Yarns
10' W x 12' H rug, cut from 12' broadloom

Tuva Looms was founded in New York by Suzanne Tick and Terry Mowers, well-known in the interior design field for their fiber and carpet expertise in design and production. Tuva collaborated with Bloomsburg Carpet in Bloomsburg, PA, a carpet mill specializing since 1976 in making woven carpet with a focus on environmental responsibility. The example here, in the colorway called “Winter,” is a woven carpet in a velvet cut-and-loop construction. The Type 6 nylon fibers used can be recycled back into new carpet fiber after its useful life. This product won a Good Design award from the Chicago Athenaeum in 2000. RE
